Abstract

This paper is a comparative study of the Jenjo and English syntactic structures using X-bar perspective. It establishes the parameters of this universal theory and looks into the various lexical categories determining their position within the X-bar rules. All the categories explored in both languages had specifier, complement and adjunct. It was discovered that most modifiers in Jenjo are post-modifier, while English has pre-modifiers and post-modifiers.
